Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, whose contract with Liverpool expires in June 2025.Since joining from Southampton, he has led the final line, dramatically transformed the defence and remains the leader of the defence. He was also appointed team captain last season.
The veteran defender, who has made full appearances in both the Premier League and Champions League this season and also holds the captain’s mark for the Dutch national team, has been in the spotlight since the summer and Graeme Bailey, an English journalist, has stated that there is a 99% chance that he will remain at Anfield beyond next season.

“They just need to work out the details, is it one year, is it one with an option, is it two, is it more. It’s almost certain that he’s at Anfield next season, I think it’s 99 per cent certain.”

Liverpool are believed to be open to securing a new centre-back, but the departure of a Dutch defender who is an integral part of the current squad is a major blow.
Although he will be 34 next July, he is showing no signs of slowing down at the moment and is a valuable asset in the development of the next generation.
