After emerging on the European stage with Basel, Egyptian international Mohamed Salah earned a move to Chelsea in 2014. His first taste of the Premier League was bittersweet, as he failed to make the grade in London, but his career got back on track with spells at Fiorentina and Roma.
In 2017, he moved to Liverpool, where his ability was capped in his second Premier League season. As part of the front three that defined an era, he scored and assisted from the right wing and is now a star player not only at Anfield but also internationally.
Speaking at the Sharjah International Book Fair at the Expo Centre Sharjah, Egyptian King began by saying that life is not easy and that it is important to read books to keep your cool He also mentioned that it is not just for athletes.
“In life, nothing comes easy. One needs to have discipline and consistency to achieve his dreams.”
“One needs to navigate through the intense pressures of elite sport and life and things with calmness.”
“Not every day on the field is your best day. Sometimes the performance is not up to the mark… then the fear of pressure creeps in. Here reading shapes you.”
“The more you read, the more your self-confidence builds up. It is reading that ultimately contributed to the development of myself as a player.”
“We at the club read about optimal training regimens, nutritional guidelines, and the importance of developing healthy habits. You know, those good reads are important for everyone, not just sportspersons.”
