26-year-old defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has received strong interest from Real Madrid, is continuing discussions with his local club.
Although no concrete details have leaked out, no agreement has been reached at the moment and as time goes on, reports from the Spanish side are heating up.
There have also been reports of interest from Liverpool for various defenders, the true nature of which is hard to grasp. And now the possibility of Devyne Rensch leaving Ajax is being discussed.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Liverpool are keen to sign the right-back if local defender Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires and he prepares to leave.
The Dutch defender is the type of player who is very quick and can get forward both on and off the ball. He has good footwork and passing skills, is solid defensively and, despite being 21 years old, has 148 first-team appearances to his name.
Like the England right-back, Liverpool could attempt to sign him on a pre-contract in January next year, as his current contract expires next summer. However, the Reds are not the only club said to be interested in him.
Barcelona from Spain are also looking at the chance to acquire him on a free transfer, and are said to recognise him as the solution to the club’s right-sided problems. Ajax have also not given up on renewing his contract.
So will the young Dutch talent continue to play for his country next season, or will he embark on a new journey with another club, such as England or Spain…?
