Liverpool had a relatively quiet summer, although a vigorous transfer market was expected with the arrival of new manager Arne Slot.
The first signing was Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, while the last reinforcement was Italian international Federico Chiesa, who only added two players to the squad.
Furthermore, the Georgia goalkeeper was rumoured to be on loan to Bournemouth, but will remain in Spain for the season. He made a series of big saves, as he did last season, but the team’s performance did not improve and they are still in the relegation zone.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper will be at a strong English club next summer, but David Webb, assistant coach of the Georgia national team, praised his talent and character and said he is the right man for Liverpool.
“Giorgi just feels like a perfect fit for Liverpool. He’s an outstanding shot stopper. He commands his box. He’s very athletic, not only big but strong as well.”
“And one of his best attributes, which I suppose Liverpool fans may not know, is his character. He’s got a very, very strong character. He’s an extremely hard worker and is determined to get right to the top.”

Unlike Valencia and the Georgia national team, he will have to stretch his game in areas other than shot stopping, such as leaping from the penalty area and turning the ball around from behind, but he has high ambitions and will not be put off in his battle for a starting place with Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Will the lanky Georgian goalkeeper be able to make history by grabbing a regular place at Anfield?
