Liverpool continue to search for a replacement for ageing Egyptian international Mohamed Salah. Although he will be 33 next year, he has performed better this season than he did last, scoring and assisting goals and saving the team in a big way.
The ghastly ability to replace Egyptian King is essential, and the club’s leaders are expected to make a careful decision. With reports of interest in the likes of Bundesliga goal-scorer Omar Marmoush, the 25-year-old German attacker’s name has once again emerged.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool are leading the race for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané, whose contract expires in June 2025. Negotiations with the club are thought to be stalled and the likelihood of his departure is increasing by the day.
The German winger, who emerged at Schalke and also played for Manchester City, has lost his place to French international Michael Olise, who joined from Crystal Palace in the summer, and most of the games he has started have been from the middle.
The attacker, who cuts through the opposition’s defence with his overwhelming speed and dribbling to get close to goal, is the right man for Liverpool, who have a fast counter attack as one of their attacking patterns. The lack of a transfer fee and his Premier League experience also work in his favour.
However, he will soon be 29 years of age and is unlikely to be considered as Salah’s successor. Furthermore, with Italian international Federico Chiesa in the squad, the club has a full complement of reserve players. There is also Scotland international Ben Doak, who is playing very well for on-loan Middlesbrough.
The chances of Liverpool moving to secure the German right winger are infinitesimally low, but what will the former prodigy’s career hold in the future…?
