Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are Liverpool’s centre-forwards, but the Portuguese forward is often out injured, the Uruguayan striker has yet to adapt and his natural goal-scoring momentum has been declining this season.
With Luis Diaz sitting at the top of the table these days, there is a growing concern over Nunez’s departure. The Arne Slot regime has only been in place for six months and it is unlikely that he will leave Anfield, but attackers who could replace him are being discussed.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are interested in Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko, who plays for RB Leipzig. Arsenal and Newcastle United are also keen on the player.
The tall forward, who stepped up to the Bundesliga from RB Salzburg in the summer of 2023, has scored eight goals and assisted three in 19 games this season and has developed into a vital attacker for the German club. He is increasingly attracting attention from the best clubs in Europe and has become a popular brand name.
He is still only 21 years old and there are high expectations for his future development. However, he is under contract until June 2029, and with mega clubs competing, RB Leipzig are likely to set a very aggressive price and it is highly unlikely that Liverpool will be able to match that amount.
So will Europe’s up-and-coming young attacker take another step up the ladder next summer…?
