Three key players – Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold – are about to see their contracts with Liverpool expire. Negotiations remain inconclusive, although they have been talked about since this summer.
Two veteran players, the Egyptian and Dutch international, have stated that they will stay at Liverpool and are likely to remain at Anfield beyond next season if terms can be agreed. However, the England defender will now have to make a decision with Real Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the transfer market, referred to the state of negotiations at Liverpool and stressed that it is a top priority for the club. He also revealed that a contract proposal has been implemented and that open discussions are continuing.
“On the contracts, this remains the absolute priority at the club,”
“Discussions continue with Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and also Trent Alexander-Arnold who’s on top of Real Madrid’s list for 2025 as revealed in March.”
“No breakthrough is done while I’m writing, no green light from the players so it’s still an open negotiation…while Liverpool believe they sent a good financial/contract proposal to all players involved.”
