Arne Slot has one of the best attacking forces in the world, with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez at centre-forward, along with wingers on either side. The front line has been strong since the start of the Premier League season and, combined with a solid defence, has kept them at the top of the table.
However, while Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah have been scoring goals, the centre-forwards have not scored much. The Portuguese international has been plagued by injury at times, as is the case every season, and the Uruguayan forward has not been more decisive.
According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Liverpool have their eyes on a new attacker, with 23-year-old Brazilian international Joao Pedro, who plays for Brighton, as their top priority target in the transfer market next summer.
He has been at Brighton since the summer of 2023 after spells at Fluminense and Watford. He has made 49 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing six assists.
He has been given the role of centre-forward and second striker, and has supported the team in good form this season, with four goals and three assists after nine games.
Although he will not be moving on in January next year, the report also says that negotiations could start with the 23-year-old forward ahead of other top clubs, but only with a lack of credibility.
He has a wealth of experience in English football, having made over 100 Premier League and Championship appearances for Watford. He is used to life in England, and if he can only get used to Arne Slot’s style of play and Liverpool as a prestigious club, he could make a mark at Anfield.
Will the Merseyside club be serious about acquiring the attacker, who made his debut for Brazil in November 2023…?
