Liverpool have continued to keep an eye on defensive midfielders since last year’s transfer window. Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who was close to joining the club, has remained at Real Sociedad, and recently rumours have been rife of him joining Arsenal.
Various other midfielders are also making the media rounds and their true intentions are hard to grasp. And it seems that a new midfielder has surfaced on Liverpool’s list.
According to TEAMtalk, the Merseyside club are following the progress of Stuttgart’s German midfielder Angelo Stiller with a view to building a team for next season.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who is under contract with the German club until June 2027, has made over 60 appearances since joining from Hoffenheim in August 2023. He has been a key player this season, scoring two goals and assisting three in 27 games throughout the Bundesliga and Champions League.
He handles the ball deftly with his left foot and uses his keen vision to get involved in game-making, while also showing up to create chances. He is not a defensive type of player, and his style of play, which facilitates ball movement in midfield, makes him a favourite of coach Arne Slot.
Stuttgart could be willing to sell him for 40 million euros, according to the paper, and the young midfielder, who also grew up in Bayern Munich’s academy, could be on his way to the Premier League.
