Three mainstay players – Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold – are facing contract expiries one after the other. The deadline is already less than six months away, allowing negotiations to take place without agreement between the clubs, with speculation centred on Saudi Arabia and Real Madrid.
Former England international Robbie Fowler, who scored a number of goals for Anfield during his playing days, explained his hypothesis. He said that two of the three players have already agreed contracts and that he is holding off on making an official announcement in order not to put pressure on the last one.
“It’s no inside information, but I do have a little theory, and I don’t know if this is far from the truth,”
“But I think two of them have signed already for some reason, and one hasn’t, due to the simple fact that the club can’t come out and say: ‘You have signed because it makes the other one look worse.’”
“There’s a possibility that may have happened, because if two of them sign and they come out and say: ‘Oh we’ve signed,’ it puts so much pressure on the other one.”

It is only a theory and would be different from the facts. However, the former ace striker, who is very close to the club, may have some information on the matter.
The two veterans are also reported to want to stay at Anfield, and given the information so far, it can be assumed that it is 26-year-old defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, also a junior member of the England squad, who is struggling.
With Real Madrid making an aggressive media appeal, it will be interesting to see whether he decides to part ways with the club he grew up with.
What kind of settlement will Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold settle for…?
