Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch joined Liverpool in the summer of 2023 after being begged by manager Jurgen Klopp, who had been interested in him since his days at Ajax.
Having failed to make the grade at Bayern Munich, it was natural for him to move to a club with a manager who appreciated him.
Converted to the bottom of midfield by fellow countryman Arne Slot, who has been in charge this season, he has continued to produce some of the best performances in the Premier League so far and has been the source of the team’s good performances in the domestic league and Champions League.
The 22-year-old tall midfielder revealed that he asked former Senegalese international Sadio Mane for advice on his move to Liverpool when he was at Bayern Munich, and the former Liverpool attacker gave him positive points.
“Sadio is a really nice guy. When I was in Munich, I asked him also about Liverpool, if it’s like a good step for me and how the club was and everything. He said a lot of good things. So, in my head, I was like, ‘I have to go!’”
Liverpool’s ‘A Day With’
Mane scored a number of goals as part of a front three that established an era. He had a disappointing time in the Bundesliga and reportedly fell out with a colleague midway through the season.
After only one season in Germany, he was half-way through his career and moved to Al Nasr in Saudi Arabia.
He has been a regular in the Saudi Professional League this season and, together with Hrafenberg, he got his career back on track by leaving the absolute champions of Germany.
As for the Senegalese attacker, it is the end of his career, but the Dutch midfielder’s career is just beginning.
Expectations are high for the Dutch midfielder to continue his consistent and excellent play and become one of the best midfielders in the world.
