Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez has not adapted perfectly to Arne Slot’s style of play.He is not a dexterous type of player and his goal tally has not increased as much as expected, despite being required to move and perform more tasks than in the Klopp era.
During the winter transfer window, interest from Saudi Arabia was reported and offers of as much as £70 million were said to have been made. However, Liverpool demanded £85 million and the move never materialised.
Apart from the Middle Eastern clubs, AC Milan have an ongoing interest in the 25-year-old striker. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Italian club are prepared to pay €60 million for the player this summer, making him a top target.
The report also mentions the possibility of Portuguese international Rafael Leão leaving, and they are looking at acquiring the Uruguayan forward, who was a prolific goalscorer during his time at Benfica, as a new scoring option.
However, if Liverpool stick to their £85 million, AC Milan have no chance. They are not financially flush, and if they still want to acquire him, they will have to sell several members of their main squad to raise the money.
There is the impression that manager Slot has a certain appreciation of the club, but another attacker would be ideal to realise 100% of the football that the Dutchman wants to play. Depending on the amount of the offer, it cannot be ruled out that he may be open to selling.
The 25-year-old forward also has the ability to enliven the game with his passionate style of play, but will he be ready for a new career next season…?
