Harvey Elliott's possible exit from the club has increased...British journalists sceptical about current performances Transfers

Harvey Elliott, an England U-21 midfielder whose potential was so promising that Jurgen Klopp was allowed to accompany him in the first team with the exception of the season he was on loan at Blackburn, has suffered a marked decline in playing time under Arne Slot. He has been a key player in the team’s first team.

Hungary midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai’s playing form is improving day by day and he is becoming a regular and indispensable part of the team.He has not started in the Premier League this season, with Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota playing in the same position in some games.

Media Matters podcast host Eddie Gibbs touched on the departure of the 21-year-old midfielder, noting that he has struggled to secure a place in the Slot regime and that he has different abilities to the rival Hungarian captain.

“Where is Elliott’s future? He’s not going to be a right winger because he doesn’t have the pace. Liverpool don’t play with a ten, and in Slot’s system, that’s unlikely to change.”

“For all he’s good on the ball, he’s no Dominic Szoboszlai off the ball.”

Reports circulated this winter that Brighton from the Premier League and Borussia Dortmund from the Bundesliga were interested.

The attacking midfielder is adamant about remaining at Anfield, which he has supported since childhood, but his pecking order in the team has only dropped.

Athletically, he finds it difficult to cover the same areas as the likes of Szoboszlai and Jones, and he is not tall, so he is often beaten in the physical game. He tries his best to do what he can do, but the results are not always good enough.

David Lynch, a British journalist, also said that his recent performances were unexpected and that his departure from Liverpool is now more realistic than when transfer rumours first emerged.

“When those initial reports came out about selling him, I was very sceptical,”

“Whereas now, I don’t know… it doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility. I’ve got more doubts about it than I did two or three months ago.”
