Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai continues to be a regular presence in the team, both offensively and defensively, under Arne Slot’s leadership.
Offensively, he creates attacking opportunities, while defensively he covers the whole pitch and relieves Mohamed Salah of his defensive burden.
His fitness is a concern, as he is running around every game. Nevertheless, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota are rotating in the attacking midfield roles and should continue their intense style of play until the end of the season.
The Premier League is even more intense than just the Premier League. It’s a top league with top players, but the 24-year-old midfielder has made the right step up: at the age of 16 he moved to RB Salzburg, followed by a move to RB Leipzig. His performances there earned him a place at Anfield in the summer of 2023.
Reflecting on his transfers so far, the Hungarian midfielder revealed the difficulties of playing and living in Austria, Germany and England, but also said he is beginning to understand what the Premier League is like.
“It’s different. It’s also different because of the age. I was very young when I was in Austria.”
“I moved there when I was 16. I played there and made my Europa League debut there, made my Champions League debut there and played with some amazing players.”
Then I moved to Leipzig, which was a big change for me also, because I moved alone, I didn’t know anyone.”
“The only good thing was I spoke in German already at this time, but still, a new country, new league, harder league. And then I moved to England. But at this time it was easier because it was my second time.”
“I knew what was going to happen, I mean in a moving way, I’m going to be alone, have to find a house and the things to settle in. It was easier, but then I realised how the Premier League is and how playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world is.”
