After being given a chance in the first team by Jurgen Klopp, England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has developed into one of the best right-backs in the world as the team has gone from strength to strength.
His quality passes and crosses, not only with his right foot, but also with his left, have resulted in numerous assists and often changed the course of the game.
His contract expires at the end of the season and he has been on the rocks with Real Madrid, with his departure attracting a lot of attention.
Former manager Rafa Benitez, who was in charge of Liverpool from 2004 to 2010, revealed that he was looking to strengthen his academy management when he renewed his contract at the time, and said a young Alexander-Arnold benefited.
“I’m going to share something you might not have known.”
“When I renewed my contract, one of the key changes was taking control of the academy.”
“Trent was one of the young talents coming through at that time, and although he was too young for me to follow closely, he was very much part of this new structure, implemented alongside Frank McPartland and under the guidance of Pep Segura.”

Liverpool has a history of producing excellent academy players.World-class players such as Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have all been at the club in the same period, and local boy Alexander-Arnold is a great successor.
Under the leadership of Fenway Sports Group, the club has continued to develop its academy in recent years, with not only local players but also young talent in their mid-teens moving to Anfield to compete in the under-category, with dreams of playing for the club.
