A potential successor to Mohamed Salah...Liverpool are keen on Spanish U-21 international Assane Diao Transfers

Egyptian international Mohamed Salah is in protracted contract extension negotiations with Liverpool and may leave the club at the end of the season. Furthermore, he will turn 33 this June, so the club are looking at who could fill the void in the long term.

Numerous wingers, to name but a few, have been linked with a move to Anfield in the media, but many of these are only rumours and no concrete moves have been made by the Liverpool side. After a quiet transfer market last summer and no one this winter, it is expected that there will be several signings this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, the Merseyside club are interested in Spanish U-21 international Assane Diao, who moved to Serie A side Como from Real Betis this winter, and a battle with Newcastle United is likely to develop.

The 19-year-old attacker mainly plays as a right winger, but can also be used on the left wing. His first-team appearances were limited during his time at Real Betis, but in the second half of the season, when he changed clubs, he secured a regular place in the team.

In nine Serie A games on the pitch, he has been at the heart of the attack, scoring five goals. However, with less than six months since his move and a contract that runs until June 2029, it seems unlikely that he will be heading to England this summer.

So will Asan Diao make the Premier League in the future…?
