Liverpool have not settled the issue of Mohamed Salah’s new contract, but rumours of a move for front-line players such as Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and Luis Diaz are rife, which could lead to a rebuild for the upcoming season.

Teenage to mid-20s attackers who play as centre-forwards or wingers have been the subject of media attention, but there are no concrete moves or interest at the moment. And now a new name has been added to Liverpool’s list of candidates.

According to TBR Football, the Reds are eyeing 19-year-old Portuguese international Roger Fernandes, who plays for SC Braga, with fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United also in contention.

The attacker, who hails from Guinea in West Africa, came through the club’s academy and has become a first-team regular. He has made over 40 appearances in the Portuguese domestic league and Europa League this season, scoring five goals and assisting five so far.

He has mostly played on the right wing or as a midfielder, but has also been used on the left flank in some games. Despite his small stature, he plays with agility and dribbling, playing off opposing defenders. He also excels in pure speed and adds depth to the attack in side attacks.

He is still inexperienced at the top level, making it difficult for Liverpool to acquire him with the touch of a successor to Mohamed Salah.

It would be better to continue honing his skills at his current club first, but gaining experience at a mid to lower-tier club in England is not a bad option.

A step up to another competitive league would also be interesting, but what sort of career will the rising Portuguese star have…?
