Liverpool are interested in Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres to replace Darwin Nunez Transfers

Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez has suffered under the Arne Slot regime. He does not match the style of play demanded by the Dutch coach, and Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are heavily used.

Although they are good at creating chances from the back and moving directly to goal, they are not very good at the passing and ball keeping dexterity required to link up with the wingers and midfielders on either side of the field and attack.

In addition, his lack of decision-making, which has been an issue for the past two seasons, shows no sign of improvement and his shooting technique has not improved. Liverpool are believed to be looking to secure a new striker this summer, and their eyes are now on Portugal.

According to A Bola, Liverpool have been named as one of the clubs interested in Swedish international Viktor Gyökeres, who continues to score goals for Sporting. Arsenal and Manchester City are also reported as candidates.

The 26-year-old striker, who arrived in Portugal from Coventry in July 2023, has been scoring goals at a threatening pace. He has maintained a high decision rate with 83 goals and 25 assists in 91 games so far this season, and is even awe-inspiring with 40 goals in 41 games.

With his well-rounded physique and goal-scoring prowess, it’s no surprise that the best clubs are keen on him. It is no surprise that he is looking to return to England again, with reports last summer suggesting that he could be on the move.

With a contract remaining until June 2028, the probability of a fight breaking out is high and the transfer fee is not cheap. Furthermore, Liverpool have a number of other targets on their list, so it remains to be seen whether they will go all out for the Swedish forward.

Nevertheless, a player who has scored so many goals so far is a must-have anywhere. Arne Slot is the perfect man to revamp an attacking line-up that relies on Mohamed Salah, but will the 26-year-old leave Portugal and move on to the Premier League?
