Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez, who was brought to England from Portugal by Jurgen Klopp, scored more goals in his first and second years, but has struggled as a centre-forward following a change of role in the change of manager.
While he has scored some dramatic goals in some games to help his team win, he has spent much of his time on the bench and has yet to grab a regular place in the team.
He also has a different style of play to the one sought by coach Arne Slot, and rumours of his departure are gaining momentum by the day.
However, the 25-year-old striker has never given up. He describes himself as not the kind of player to throw away just because his playing time is short.
He spoke of his significance towards the end of the season, saying that it is important to keep working hard even on the days when goals are not coming in.
“I’m happy thinking about the national team, enjoying every minute with it,”
“These are moments that one goes through in football, and as I said recently, I’m not someone who throws in the towel because they don’t play, but rather, I’m going to keep working so I can play.”
“I know I’m not performing as well as I should; it’s difficult because when you’re doing well, like when I came on against PSG, your confidence changes, with the idea of being able to break it in the next match. But then you get a slump, and I’m always there to help my teammates when I come back to the national team.”
“The ball doesn’t want to go in.”
“Let him run a lot, play well, and then not be able to score a goal,” he added.
“I’m strong in my head since my family always supports me, and that’s the important thing to keep working and bring joy to everyone, like beating Argentina to get the three points.”

The Uruguayan forward, who was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this winter, is also thought to be open to a move to the Middle East.
On the other hand, Spanish and Italian clubs such as Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are also keeping an eye on him, and a battle may develop.
Nunez is in a position where he still has time to prove himself, but at the moment he needs to raise money through the sale of existing players in order to strengthen his squad, and it would not be surprising if Nunez is the target.
Will the former Benfica player stay at Anfield next season, or will he look for a new home at another club?
