For a long time, Irish goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher has been Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper and has been a consistent performer when he has been on the pitch.
He has failed to break Alisson Becker’s stronghold this season and has not been able to get a chance to play during the defender’s breakaway period or in cup competitions.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper is likely to leave at the end of the season in search of a regular place. With his contract coming to an end in June 2026, he is well placed to move on to a new career. And there are many clubs interested in one of the Premier League’s best players, including Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle.
According to talkSPORT, the 26-year-old goalkeeper is expected to be in contention this summer, but Bournemouth are leading the race for him at the moment. He is expected to leave the club to replace Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Bournemouth, who have performed better than expected in the Premier League this season, play compact football, winning the ball through intense pressing with all players and instantly moving into attack. The team’s manager, Andoni Ilaola, has earned a growing reputation.
The club has acquired Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on loan, and the 30-year-old goalkeeper, who has protected the goalmouth with adequate saves, could return to Chelsea, where a defender who can take a starting place is not established.
If he returns to the club with whom he has a contract, Bournemouth will have to find a replacement. They have a good relationship with Liverpool and with Richard Hughes, who was their sporting director until last season, there are no obstacles to negotiations.
Will the Irish goalkeeper, who also started in the Carabao Cup final despite the defeat, decide to move to Bournemouth amongst a number of other clubs? Or will his new home be at another club…?
