‘His future is in the spotlight’ Newcastle striker Alexander Isak prioritises Liverpool over Barcelona Transfers

Swedish international Alexander Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad, continues to prove himself in the Premier League, having already scored 23 goals and provided five assists across the domestic league, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

The 25-year-old striker, who also won the Carabao Cup against Liverpool, is one of the players whose departure will be closely watched in the summer transfer window. In addition to Merseyside clubs, Arsenal are also interested and Barcelona, from La Liga, where he played in the past, are also keen.

According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, the Swedish forward is open to a move to Barcelona, but would prioritise playing at Anfield if Liverpool were to make a move for him.

It is said that a transfer fee in excess of £100 million would be required to land the world-class striker, who is under contract until June 2028. It is clear that this is not a sum the Reds can afford to splash out, and negotiations will not even develop unless they can lower that amount by, for example, offering a trade partner.

And with the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona also in the fray, Newcastle could raise the price even further. Liverpool, who are reportedly considering selling Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and others, have a slight chance of being ready for the asking price.

Last summer, they were also said to have added 27-year-old defender Joe Gomez to their deal when they were trying to acquire England international Anthony Gordon, also of Newcastle.

On the other hand, reports are circulating that a club in the north of England are interested in young defender Jarell Quansah and may be open to his transfer.

Liverpool are entering their second summer under Arne Slott and could see a major revamp in their squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold has agreed to go to Spain, while the futures of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are yet to be decided.

Other rumours of exits are also circulating, including Luis Diaz and Kostas Tsimikas.

Liverpool are expected to make major changes, but will they be able to pull off a Swedish forward from Newcastle as the centrepiece of their squad…?
