Liverpool’s midfield restructuring is in full swing as they seek to bolster their ranks for the upcoming season. The team has been actively pursuing young midfielders, currently participating in the U-21 European Championship 2023, in order to add depth to their squad.
Among the top prospects being considered are Khéphren Thuram, Manu Koné, and Gabri Veiga, all of whom have shown great promise on the pitch.
Alexis Mac Allister, an Argentine midfielder, was already acquired by Liverpool at the end of last season. However, negotiations for other potential signings have been slower than expected, possibly due to the ongoing tournament.
This has led the team to consider a wide range of options, including former Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
According to Fichajes, Gravenberch is available for €25m after complaining about his treatment at Bayern Munich. He has caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, who is keen to add the Dutch midfielder’s dynamism to the team’s midfield.
Gravenberch’s style of play and physicality are similar to that of England midfielder Jude Bellingham, who was originally on Liverpool’s radar but was ultimately ruled out due to a high transfer fee.
While Gravenberch would certainly be a valuable addition to Liverpool’s midfield, some reports suggest that the team is still prioritizing the acquisition of a physically strong midfielder, such as the France U-21 duo. However, with Bayern Munich refusing to release their 21-year-old midfielder, Gravenberch may well be the best option for Liverpool going forward.
As the preseason approaches, Liverpool fans are eagerly awaiting news of the team’s next signing. With the club actively pursuing a range of talented young midfielders, it remains to be seen who will ultimately make the cut.
Will Liverpool be able to secure the perfect addition to their midfield before the start of the season? Only time will tell.
