Liverpool, which is pushing for a generational change in midfield with the average age of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, is steadily moving forward with its bolstering plan, signing 24-year-old midfielder Alexis Mac Allister as well as 22-year-old midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch had been considered a top target. He has played little time in Germany and has complained about his circumstances, and there have been reports of a possible transfer, but his club has never shaken its head.
According to Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool, with Soboslai in their team, have backed away from the player and have made Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, a physically strong defensive midfielder, their top priority target.
News #Gravenberch: Liverpool is definitely OUT of the race! But talks between the club and the players management took place.— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) July 3, 2023

Important to say: Gravenberch is not unsaleable for Bayern! @SkySportDE 🇳🇱 pic.twitter.com/UDOdmevATp
He is the type of player who can make his presence felt both offensively and defensively, but he is not a defensive midfielder who can stand tall at the back, a position covered by Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, so the decision not to pursue him was a no-brainer.
Although his potential is high and his dynamic style of play is attractive, his chances of becoming a regular at Anfield are unknown, and his development in the Bundesliga is preferable for the player.
In addition to Lavia, Liverpool is also strongly interested in Khéphren Thuram, and we will keep an eye on the upcoming transfer market to see which player they decide to sign.
