Saudi Arabia’s financial power is testing some of Europe’s strongest clubs. Real Madrid lost Karim Benzema and changed its formation. Manchester City has sold Mahrez and Laporte to the Middle East. Other key players have also been pulled out.
Liverpool is in a similar position, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho deciding to move to Saudi Arabia. Thiago Alcantara and Alisson Becker have also been approached, and the fear of oil money still persists.
According to the ibeIN Sports, Al-Ittihad has offered Egypt’s Mohamed Salah a personal contract to lead the attack with Benzema and Joao Filipe, and the players have already agreed.
The Athletic also reported that Al-Ittihad will reignite their interest, while Sky Sports also reported the news that the club is committed to signing the Egyptian King. With the Premier League season underway and the transfer market deadline looming, the former Roma winger’s departure has been hectic.
However, no inter-club agreement has been reached and Liverpool is treating him as not for sale. Furthermore, they have expressed their intention not to even negotiate, so it seems unlikely that the transfer frenzy will heat up any further.
The only possibility is that Mohamed Salah will be forced to go to a Middle Eastern club, and if he refuses to participate in training or other activities, the club may be forced to allow the transfer to take place. Still, this is not realistic, as he agreed to a contract extension last summer and his agent has spoken of his loyalty to Liverpool throughout.
How will the departure of the suddenly buzzing Egyptian captain settle down…?
