The Saudi Professional League has been the buzzword in European soccer this summer during the transfer market. The league has successfully raised its profile by acquiring a number of talents, including Neymar, Karim Benzema, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, and Fabinho.
While interest was reported in Thiago Alcantara and Joe Gomez, news broke that Saudi Arabia was also interested in Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker. No progress was made since then, but there were no concrete offers or discussions, Fabrizio Romano reported.
“I’m not aware of anything concrete from Saudi for Alisson last summer, despite the rumours,” Romano said.
“There were never concrete proposals or official bids, interest always there for a fantastic GK like Alisson but not concrete deal or negotiations. The Brazilian is now in superb form for Liverpool, showing again why he’s so important for the Reds.”
“Personally I have loved Alisson since he was at Roma, he’s a top goalkeeper, one of the best, for sure.”Caught Offside
The former Roma goalkeeper is one of the top five goalkeepers in the world, and Liverpool would not easily part with him.
The Saudis are expected to make aggressive reinforcements next year, and the Brazilian goalkeeper is sure to shine at Anfield in the summer and beyond.
