Senegalese winger Sadio Mane left Liverpool in the summer of 2022. Former Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino left the team this summer when his contract expired.
In a front three that boasted the best of the best, only Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian international, is still with the team.
To fill their holes, Liverpool has acquired Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo, but so far they have not shown enough offensive ability to match, and many of their games have ended in indigestion against defenses that are hard to defend against.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher laments the team’s situation. He mentioned, among others, the Dutch and Colombian internationals, saying that their performances have not been good enough to replace the front-three.
“Looking at Liverpool’s front three, there’s something not right about it. [Cody] Gakpo has been here for nearly 12 months and he’s had flashes but nowhere near enough.”
“[Luis] Diaz looks a shadow of himself after his knee injuries last season. I really feel that Diaz needs to have a good second half of the season otherwise Liverpool will be going into the market in the summer on the left-hand side.”
“It just feels that with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino going, they haven’t replaced them in terms of quality.”

As Liverpool alumni have pointed out, Mohamed Salah still leads the team’s attack and has yet to replace the front three. The level of the individual players and the combination of the two has not improved.
Will Liverpool be looking to strengthen their front line again in the near future?
