After moving to Liverpool from Sunderland, England midfielder Jordan Henderson was entrusted with the captain’s mark by Steven Gerrard, and under the tutelage of manager Jurgen Klopp, he has transformed into one of the Premier League’s leading midfielders.

As captain, he also won the Premier League title and the Champions League, which Gerrard could not reach, and the 33-year-old was expected to continue his leadership role at Anfield this season, but fearing a decline in playing time, he moved to Saudi Arabia.

Experiencing the former Sunderland midfielder’s leadership skills up close and personal, former Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever joined from Ajax in 2018 and was praised for his leadership.

He referred to his most recent rumored move to Ajax and praised his unwavering mentality.

“He [Henderson] immediately explained the basics to me,”

“How things worked at Melwood training ground and what playing for Liverpool entails. Make sure you arrange your things on time, so that you arrive at the club well in time and go to the gym outside of field training. We young boys were especially not allowed to be lazy.”

“If it works, Ajax will get a real leader,”

“In everything, on and off the field. A good midfielder, whose temperament and willpower really came to the fore when things went badly.”

“During such a speech he could go on a rant and really put teammates in their place, but in a good way. I stood sometimes amazed at how he was always a role model and leader, who did the best for the group.”
