English midfielder Jordan Henderson played for Anfield until last season and held up numerous titles, but fearing a decline in opportunities, he chose to go to Saudi Arabia in the transfer market last summer to play for Steven Gerrard’s side.
However, Al-Ettifaq is not doing well as a team. Against the top-ranked group, they have only gained about half a point.
Furthermore, they have not been able to adapt to the unique climate and culture of the Middle East, and after six months, they have raised the white flag and are planning to return to Europe.
Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, shared progress on the player’s movements and hinted that the Dutch club is confident of acquiring him and that he could join Ajax.
“Understand Ajax are confident on Jordan Henderson deal! Negotiations are advancing — contacts took place even today.”
“Not done deal yet, all parties cautious but the deal is absolutely on.”
“Ajax are pushing, more to follow.”
