Like Thierry Henry...Liverpool alumnus praises Darwin Nunez's goal against Bournemouth Team

Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica in the summer of 2022.In his first year at Anfield, he missed many decisions, played poorly as a center forward, and at times faced a lot of criticism.

However, under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp at club and Marcelo Bielsa at national team, Nunez’s game as a forward has been refined, and this season he has become a player who can be expected to not only score goals but also provide assists.

In the recent game against Bournemouth, he scored two goals, including the first, and contributed to a four-goal victory.

Former England defender Phil Thompson, who hoisted numerous titles for Liverpool in the 70s and 80s, praised his shot at the Vitality Stadium, mentioning the name of former France international Thierry Henry, who once made his mark in the Premier League.

“The great thing about Darwin, which is what fans love in players, he never gives up, he always has a go.”

“Yeah he’s got his failings but the Liverpool fans absolutely, for what he gives, and he doesn’t stop trying.”

“I know where you are coming from Ally, he’s just got to be a little bit cuter with his finishing but didn’t we see that in the Bournemouth game.”

“The great move, he comes, a little bit, dare I say, Thierry Henry like, and he just glides it past him into the far corner.”

“And the second one that he scores is even better. Cross from Joe Gomez, reaching out for it, just delicately with the outside of his right foot on the stretch, and puts it into the corner.”
