Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez was expected to wake up in his second year after struggling with the speed and other aspects of the Premier League last season. He has settled into England and the team and has improved his play this season, with double-digit goals and assists.
However, his decision-making in front of goal remains questionable. While he has scored dramatic goals to win games, such as against Newcastle, his conversion rate is very low, as he often hits easy goals at the goalkeeper or fails to get a shot on frame.
They are also vulnerable to competition from strong centre-backs and their post play is poor. His footwork is not at the top level and he has been one of the main targets of criticism in recent times when the forwards have failed to score.
Mohamed Salah’s poor form has also been severe, and with rumours of his departure this summer, the Uruguayan striker’s future is also uncertain.
Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the transfer market, reported that Chelsea were serious about acquiring him during last summer’s transfer window.
He said that manager Jurgen Klopp, who believes in his ability, stubbornly refused to release him at that time, but it will be interesting to see whether he will be in the squad for next season when he leaves.
