Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez moved to Liverpool from Benfica in July 2022. In his first season with the club, where he was expected to be a threat in front of goal, he spent many days being criticised for his lack of decision-making ability.
This season, his goals and assists have increased, with double figures in both through the Premier League and Europa League.
There were games where he scored in the closing stages to lead his team to victory, but his inability to score one-on-one goals against goalkeepers did not decrease, and reports of his departure from the club were heating up, partly due to the departure of Jurgen Klopp, who had hoped to acquire him.
However, the 24-year-old striker, a big-money acquisition, will not be let go easily and is likely to play at Anfield again next season.
Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the transfer situation, also ruled out the possibility of a move and said no deals or negotiations had taken place.
“On Darwin, we had many, many stories, but to be completely honest with you I’m hearing that there is nothing really concrete into it.”
