Liverpool have continued to acquire promising prospects in the UK during the recent transfer window, including Ben Doak and Trey Nyoni.
There are also a number of academy players who have made their mark in the first team, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah and Stefan Bajcetic, and a number of youngsters made their first team debuts last season.
And Liverpool are looking to further strengthen their lower-team squad. According to Turkish newspaper Aslinda, the Reds have their eyes on Turkey and are set to make a move for 18-year-old defender Yasin Özcan from Kasımpaşa.
They are already scouting and have informed their clubs of their intention to acquire him. Strong domestic clubs such as Beşiktaş and Fenerbahce are also said to be interested, so a battle for the Turkish U-21 defender could develop this summer.
He has made a total of 60 appearances for the club since being promoted to the first team in the summer of 2022. He has also pitched for the Turkish U-21 national team in eight matches and is not dreaming of a full national team debut in the near future.
The left-handed centre-back can also play as a left-back. With a low transfer fee of roughly £5 million, he is a budget-friendly acquisition compared to other reported targets in the defensive ranks, which is a big advantage.
He is still inexperienced and will be treated as a youngster if he joins Anfield. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to compete with the regulars and his priority seems to be to develop within Turkey, but…?
