Former Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara has left Anfield following the expiry of his contract. Liverpool, who significantly strengthened their midfield in the transfer market last summer, still have sufficient strength and acquiring a new midfielder is not a priority.
Nevertheless, there have been rumours of interest in various midfielders, with the defensive midfielder at the top of the list. EURO 2024 participants have also been added to the list of candidates, as names of players who have proven themselves in Europe, such as Atalanta midfielder Ederson, emerge and disappear.
According to Calciomercato, both Liverpool and AC Milan are preparing to compete for the French midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired.
The 29-year-old midfielder joined Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 20219 and has scored 22 goals and provided 15 assists in 212 games in Turin.
He also has impressive figures in the French capital, with 24 goals and 14 assists in 227 appearances, and has plenty of experience in the Champions League and Europa League.
He has also been selected for France in the ongoing EURO 2024 and is close to 50 appearances for the country’s full national team. Despite his height, he continues to dance with flair in midfield with a delicate touch of the ball, making his presence felt both offensively and defensively.
He did not extend his contract, which was due to expire at the end of this June, and is currently without a club. Although a contract extension offer from Juventus is still valid, he is free to negotiate with other clubs and his departure will be closely watched.
Will Liverpool be making a serious bid for the French midfielder?
