FSG is "serious" about buying Girondins de Bordeaux as a second football club after Liverpool Transfers

Michael Edwards, who showed exceptional skills as Liverpool’s sporting director, has been appointed CEO of the football division of owner Fenway Sports Group (FSG), although there was a path back to the same position.

As well as developing Liverpool into a more attractive club, Edwards will be tasked with acquiring and overseeing new clubs, developing the sector and expanding the portfolio in the owner group.

And new club acquisitions may be on the way. According to France Bleu, FSG is on the front foot to acquire Girondins Bordeaux, which is aiming for promotion in the Ligue 2, and discussions have been held with the club’s owners.

If you have been a fan of European football for a while now, you will have heard the name Bordeaux at least once. The old French club has won the league six times in the past, but is currently in a difficult position as it is in the hunt for promotion to Ligue 1.

It is also in danger of relegation to the third tier, the Champion National, due to its longstanding debts. FSG are reportedly prepared to make an initial investment of €42 million in the club, including as an up-front investment.

Will the second club after Liverpool settle for the old French giants?
