I knew it was last minute...Liverpool midfielder reflects on the dramatic win against Nottingham Forest Match

Darwin Nunez was the hero for Liverpool, scoring three dramatic points against Nottingham Forest.

Nunez sent the away crowd and the Liverpool bench into a frenzy in the 99th minute when he headed home a cross from Alexis Mac Allister.

Needless to say, the goal was the result of some brilliant play by Mac Allister. After the game, the Argentine midfielder revealed what he was thinking when he had the ball.

“This is such a special day for us. To win it like that is not easy. We came to a tough place. In that moment I knew it was last minute and I just had to put it in. Darwin is such an important player for us.”

“There is no easy game in the Premier League. Very happy, very happy. It’s three points. We move onto Thursday. We were always positive. Our leaders were keeping the team very positive. We’re a good group, nice players on and off the pitch,”

Sometimes you need your top players to get going in key situations, and that’s what Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez did for the Reds today.

Any other player might have put in the wrong cross or perhaps would have under-hit or over-hit. But Mac Allister was different. He is a player who played in and won the most pressurized World Cup final in all of soccer.

And in today’s game, he set up Nunez with a superbly composed display, which led to him scoring a superb goal.

It was a very important day for Liverpool and they got over the line. When the season is over, this could be a result that will be looked back on as a major turning point.
